According to local publication Anadolu, the cause of the explosion was the accumulation and detonation of grain dust. As a result, preliminary findings indicate that 13 out of 16 elevators at the port have been damaged.

The explosion occurred around 2:40 p.m., and the cause is being determined. Preliminarily, one of the terminals exploded during the loading of a grain vessel. Likely, 10 people have been injured. Two grain storage tanks have also been damaged. Rescuers are working at the site.
