russian oligarch Shvidler, Abramovich's friend, loses court case to lift British sanctions against him
The seizure of assets does not allow Shvidler's family and children to live normally, lawyers said

Billionaire Yevgeny Shvidler, an associate of russian businessman Roman Abramovich, whose fortune is estimated by Forbes magazine at $1.6 billion, lost an attempt to lift British sanctions imposed on him after russia's invasion of Ukraine in the High Court in London on Friday.
Source. This was reported by Reuters.
Schwedler, who holds dual British and U.S. citizenship, was sanctioned in March 2022 for his association with former Chelsea football club owner Abramovich. Two of his private jets were confiscated as well.
In court, Schwedler's lawyers argued that the seizure of assets prevented the Schwedler family from living normally. They said that the oligarch's children were forced to leave English schools, move to the United States, and now their mother rarely sees them because she lives in the UK. Unlike Schwidler, she does not have U.S. citizenship or residency.
russian billionaires Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven, who lived in the UK at the time of russia's invasion of Ukraine, also sought to have British sanctions lifted. They failed to do so. On August 11, sanctions were imposed on both of them in the United States.
Background. As a reminder, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to russian oligarch Fridman for legalizing 100 million UAH.
