"Like Israel, but we have a different enemy": Zelensky discusses security guarantees for Ukraine
He said that the agreement on the Israeli model is approved by Congress, so it does not depend on the White House

In an interview with Ukrainian media, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that security guarantees for Ukraine should include "both a shield and a sword." According to him, such guarantees will appear in the process of Ukraine's accession to NATO, but will be backed by a bilateral agreement with the United States.
"We will probably have a model agreement with the United States, similar to the Israeli one, under which we will receive weapons, technology, training, finance, etc. Like Israel, but we have a different enemy," Zelenskyy said, as quoted by CNN.
Such an agreement would not depend on which president is in charge of the White House, Zelenskiy said, as it would be approved by Congress.
The United States and Israel have signed numerous security agreements since the founding of the Jewish state. Under the terms of these agreements, the United States guarantees Israel a qualitative military advantage over other forces in the region.
Background. As a reminder, the United States was the first country to start negotiations with Ukraine on security guarantees.
