Armenia and the United States to hold joint military exercises at an Armenian base
The day before, Armenia recalled its permanent representative to the CSTO

From September 11 to 20, in preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions, the Eagle Partner 2023 exercise will be held at the Zar Training Center of the Armenian Peacekeeping Brigade with the participation of the US military.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense said the purpose of the exercise is to "increase the level of interaction between units participating in international peacekeeping missions as part of peacekeeping operations," as well as "exchange best practices in management and tactical communication."
The day before, Armenia recalled its permanent and plenipotentiary representative to the CSTO (the pro-Russian Collective Security Treaty Organization), Viktor Biyagov.
As previously reported, in January 2023, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia considers it inappropriate to hold CSTO exercises in the country this year.
Later, he also said that Yerevan had the impression that the organization was "leaving Armenia." He suggested that Armenia could decide to suspend or freeze its membership in the CSTO.
Background. As a reminder, banks in Armenia, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong do not accept payments from Russia for "parallel imports."
