The Pentagon confirmed that it has signed an agreement with Musk to provide the Armed Forces with Starlink communications

The Pentagon has confirmed an agreement with Elon Musk's company to provide Starlink communications to the Ukrainian military.

This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder, Ukrinform reports citing the US Department of Defense.

"I can confirm that we have signed a contract with Starlink for services in support of Ukraine with the ultimate goal of providing Ukraine with the satellite communications infrastructure it needs," the official said.

The details of this agreement were not disclosed due to its secrecy.

"For reasons of security of operations due to the critical nature of these systems, we simply cannot provide additional information on the specific capabilities or details of these services," Ryder said.

The Pentagon spokesman also did not disclose the amount of the deal.

Background. Earlier it was reported that billionaire Elon Musk secretly ordered to disconnect Starlink near Crimea last year to disrupt the Ukrainian attack on the Russian Navy.

He was allegedly afraid that Moscow would use nuclear weapons in response to the Ukrainian attack on Crimea. Musk himself claims that he did not instruct his specialists to shut down the Starlink satellite network off the coast of occupied Crimea because it was not working there.

Background. Recently, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that Musk's contribution to helping Ukraine was the largest among private company owners.
