Beijing supports the creation of an "independent Palestinian state"
China supports the Palestinian people in their "just cause" to defend their national rights and supports the creation of an independent state of Palestine.
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, CGTN reports.
Wang Yi emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. He called on the international community to take action against any actions that harm the civilian population.
The Chinese minister, commenting on the events in the region, said that violence in response to violence will only lead to more damage and exacerbate the crisis. The reason for the escalation, he said, was the longstanding disregard for the rights of the Palestinian people to return to the region and establish an independent state.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also called for an end to attacks against civilians in the Gaza Strip and to stop the humanitarian crisis. According to him, Iran hopes to resolve the problem through political means and is ready to strengthen communication with China in this direction.
Earlier, China's Foreign Minister has already called on Israel and Hamas not to take any action to further escalate the armed conflict and to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible. According to him, China is intensively communicating with all parties to promote a ceasefire and end the war. In a conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, he said that Israel should heed the calls of the international community and the UN Secretary-General and stop "collective punishment" of the residents of the Gaza Strip.
