The Italian government has confirmed that Russian pranksters calling themselves Vovan and Lexus have indeed recently pranked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The pro-Kremlin pranksters posted a recording of the phone call on social media, the BBC reports.
In the course of the prank, one of the pranksters introduced himself as an African diplomat, and Meloni confided in him that the war in Ukraine, which she believes will last for years to come, is very tiring.
The prime minister also said that the moment is approaching when a way out of this situation will have to be found, but emphasized that such a way out must be acceptable to both sides and not violate international law.
George Maloney also said that she had some ideas on the matter, but she was waiting for the right moment to voice them. At the same time, she reiterated that she supports Ukraine in the war against Russian aggression.
Background. Earlier, Meloni said that Italy would help restore the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa, which was damaged by the occupiers' attack.
