Zelensky: Now is not the time for elections in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that now is not the time to prepare for elections, and all resources should be directed to the needs of defense against Russian aggression.

Source. He said this in his address, a video of which was published on his official telegram channel.

"We all understand that now is wartime, when there are many challenges, it is absolutely irresponsible to throw the topic of elections into society so lightly and playfully," Zelensky said.

"We must decide that now is the time of defense, the time of battle, on which the fate of the state and people depends, and not the time of fraud, which only Russia expects from Ukraine. I believe that elections are not the right time. And if we need to put an end to a political dispute and continue to work only in unity, the state has structures that are capable of putting an end to it and giving society all the necessary answers. So that there is no room for conflicts and someone else's game against Ukraine," the Ukrainian president said.

Background. Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was considering holding presidential elections in the spring of 2024.
