The German budget for 2024 will include an additional 4 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine
For Kyiv, this means more weapons and ammunition in the war against Russia

The German newspaper Bild, citing sources in the German Ministry of Defense, reports that the German budget for the next year will include 4 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine. The coalition parties have reached an agreement on this. Next week, the Bundestag's budget committee will officially decide on an additional 4 billion euros of funding.
Initially, Finance Minister Christian Lindner had envisaged only four 4 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine in the federal budget for 2024. However, almost all of this money was earmarked for already promised support projects, while the German Ministry of Defense had only €120 million left for new aid.
The German Ministry of Defense sounded the alarm and demanded an additional 5 billion euros during the current budget negotiations. As a result, it was agreed to add another 4 billion euros to the next year's budget (in addition to the 4 billion already allocated) to support Ukraine.
For Kyiv, this means more weapons and ammunition in the defense war against Russia.
Ukraine hopes to receive more than $30 billion from its allies next year, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said. According to him, such assistance from the EU, the US, other allied countries and the IMF will allow Kyiv to cover the budget deficit.
Ukraine expects to receive $5.4 billion from the IMF, 18 billion euros in financial aid from the EU and more than $10 billion from the US, as well as additional budget support from Japan, the UK, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Portugal and other allied countries.
