Polish authorities have accused 16 foreigners of spying for Russia. The detainees confessed to collecting information about the supply of weapons to Ukraine and planning sabotage.

"Charges of conducting espionage activities on behalf of the Russian special services in Poland and participation in an organized criminal group were brought against 16 foreigners," said intelligence service representative Mariusz Kaminski, "Their tasks included identifying military facilities and critical infrastructure, tracking trains transporting military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and organizing their accidents.

The defendants are members of a Russian spy network, the liquidation of which Poland announced in March. Cameras, electronic equipment, and GPS transmitters were found on their possession for installation on vehicles delivering supplies to Ukraine.

According to him, the arrested were also ordered to engage in propaganda to destabilize relations between Poland and Ukraine, and were paid for it.

In July, Poland reported the detention of a Ukrainian citizen who had been working for Russian special services, he had been living in the country since 2019. At that time, the number of suspects of spying for Russia increased to 15. In August, a Belarusian citizen joined them.

According to Polish Minister of Justice Zbigniew Zobro on Twitter, each of the accused faces up to 10 years in prison.

Poland has provided €4.3 billion in aid to Ukraine, including €3 billion in military aid, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy as of July 31.

In addition, Poland is a major transshipment point through which the bulk of weapons and other aid, such as technical equipment from Kyiv's Western partners, is delivered to Ukraine.
