The truce between Israel and Hamas will begin at 7 a.m. on Friday

The temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which was agreed upon during indirect talks between Israel and the radical Hamas group, will come into effect at 7 a.m. local time on Friday, November 24.

This was announced at a press conference by a representative of the Qatari Foreign Ministry. This country played the role of one of the mediators in the negotiations.

It became known the day before that an agreement had been reached to release some of the hostages taken by Hamas militants during the attack on Israel in exchange for a temporary ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The agreement was expected to come into effect on Thursday, but its entry into force was postponed for a day.

According to Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari, the release of the hostages will begin on Friday evening. Then 13 people will be released.

At least 50 people kidnapped by jihadists – women and children – will be released within four days, which will be a pause in the fighting.

In response to the release of the hostages, the Israeli authorities are expected to release at least some of the Palestinian women and teenagers in prison.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry also confirmed that Hamas had provided lists of hostages to be released. This mechanism is part of the agreement.

As previously reported by the Times of Israel, Israel will not publish the hostages' details until they are released in order not to give their families false hope if the deal breaks down.

As long as the temporary ceasefire is in effect, all hostilities in the Gaza Strip must cease, and the Israeli military must also pause in its aerial surveillance of the Strip. Humanitarian aid should be allowed into the Strip.

The Israeli authorities emphasize that this is not a truce, and state that after the agreed ceasefire, the fighting against Hamas will continue.
