Denmark is updating its fleet of F-16 fighters with more modern F-35 aircraft. In August, it became known that Denmark would transfer 19 aircraft to Ukraine after the approval of the US government.
According to the newspaper, Washington was hesitant to hand over the planes, fearing that Moscow would recognize it as a direct belligerent in the war in Ukraine, but eventually agreed.
In addition to Denmark, Belgium, Norway, and the Netherlands promised to provide F-16s to Ukraine.
