China imposes sanctions on five US companies for supplying arms to Taiwan

Five American defense companies have been sanctioned by China for supplying weapons to Taiwan. The sanctions include a freeze on all property of these companies located in China and even a ban on relations with them for both Chinese companies and individuals.

In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that this step is due to the fact that the United States imposes "illegal unilateral sanctions" against Chinese companies and individuals that "seriously harm the sovereignty and security interests" of the country, as well as "threaten peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."

In this regard, China expresses its "strong protest" to the US authorities and informs that it will "defend its national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity".

Among other things, the Chinese Foreign Ministry called on the United States to adhere to the "One China" policy and promised to respond with "decisive and forceful opposition" if Washington continues to arm Taiwan and imposes sanctions on Chinese firms.

In his New Year's address, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said that Taiwan's "reunification" with China is inevitable. At the same time, only a year ago, he said that people on both sides of the strait are members of the same family and should jointly contribute to the prosperity of the Chinese nation.
