What does the agreement on security guarantees signed by Ukraine and the UK provide for?
In the event of aggression, the UK pledges to provide Ukraine with rapid assistance in ensuring security and providing modern military equipment and machinery

The United Kingdom and Ukraine signed a bilateral security cooperation agreement on Friday. The agreement is designed for 10 years with the intention of extending it and provides for a fairly comprehensive nature of cooperation.
In particular, it outlines the main areas of cooperation between the two countries:
1) Defense and military cooperation
2) Maritime security
3) Cooperation in the defense industry
4) Protection of critical infrastructure
5) Cooperation in the field of cybersecurity
6) Information security and countering propaganda
7) Cooperation in the fight against organized crime
8) Political cooperation. Here, the parties recognize that neither Ukraine nor Europe will be safe until Ukraine's territorial integrity is fully restored and a just world is established that respects Ukraine's rights under international law and the UN Charter.
9) Financial support for Ukraine, its recovery and reconstruction
10) Cooperation in humanitarian aid and civil defense
11) Implementation of reforms necessary for Ukraine's cooperation with the European Union and NATO
12) The agreement also separately provides for close cooperation in the event of foreign armed aggression.
In this case, as the text of the agreement reads, the UK undertakes, acting in accordance with its legislation, to provide Ukraine with prompt and continuous assistance in ensuring security, providing modern military equipment and machinery in all areas, as well as the necessary economic assistance.
Economic and other costs will be borne by the aggressor.
The UK also promises to consult with Kyiv on its needs when Ukraine exercises its right to self-defense, enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
As reported, the UK has announced military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 2.5 billion pounds for the next fiscal year (which begins in April).
This is the largest such commitment by Britain since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The prime minister made the announcement during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv and the signing of a new agreement.
Rishi Sunak said that support is vital because if Vladimir Putin "wins in Ukraine, he will not stop there."
According to official reports, this package of British aid will provide Ukraine with long-range missiles, air defense and artillery shells.
The package will also include the largest delivery to Ukraine of drones, most of which will be manufactured in the UK.
The package also includes £18 million for humanitarian aid, strengthening Ukraine's energy infrastructure, and additional funding for online English language learning.
Background. As reported, the UK will provide Ukraine with the largest batch of drones among all countries.
