"Putin is a predator who is not satisfied with frozen food": Zelensky in Davos speaks out against freezing the war

This year should be crucial for ending the war in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

At the same time, he doubts whether the "freezing of the war in Ukraine" will really end the conflict.

After 2014, there were attempts to freeze the war in Donbas, Zelensky said. But this did not satisfy Russia's appetite, saying:

"Putin is a predator who is not satisfied with frozen food. We must defend ourselves, he continues. We can defeat him on the ground, we have proven it," he adds.

Zelenskiy tells the packed Davos audience that Ukraine needs their help in rebuilding.

"With Ukraine, each of you can become even more successful," Zelenskyy said.

He added that he had held discussions with the Swiss president about holding a global peace summit.

"Peace must prevail, this must be the solution to this conflict," he concluded, drawing another round of warm applause.

Question from the audience.

- How long will the Russian people allow Putin to continue this war?

Switching to Ukrainian, Zelensky says that it depends on how long Russians are willing to be deaf, to hear and see nothing, and to pretend that everything is fine.

"This is a question for the people of Russia, whether they are capable of changing themselves, not for me," Zelenskyy says, adding:

"I don't believe that Putin is capable of changing, because only people can do that."

Volodymyr Zelenskyy goes on to explain that there must be justice, not revenge against Russia.

"The Ukrainian people will never forgive Putin and the people who committed this terror, who took time away from our children, who were deprived of their childhood," he says.

According to him, there must be responsibility and consequences.

And he rejects the assumption that time is on the Russian president's side. There will be no rest for Putin, his children or grandchildren, Zelenskyy says.
