Japan became the fifth country in the world to successfully land its spacecraft on the Moon

Japan has successfully landed its spacecraft on the Moon for the first time, becoming the fifth country to do so.
Source. It was reported by Reuters.
The landing was made within a hundred-meter radius of the target. According to the Japanese space agency JAXA, the SLIM (Smart Lunar Lander) landed on the surface of the Earth's satellite at approximately 15:20 GMT. However, communication with the probe has not yet been confirmed.
The purpose of the spacecraft is to test technologies that will allow exploring the mountainous terrain near the lunar poles in the future for sources of oxygen, fuel and water needed to sustain a manned lunar expedition. It will take several months to complete the SLIM mission.
Later, JAXA confirmed that the probe was in communication, but noted that it had problems generating electricity from solar panels.
In addition to Japan, the United States, the USSR, China, and India have successfully landed their spacecraft. The launch of Russia's Luna 25 interplanetary station last year was unsuccessful.
Roscosmos cited the abnormal functioning of the onboard control system during the spacecraft's transition to pre-landing orbit as the reason. It was "completely imported".
On August 23, 2023, India successfully landed a module on the lunar surface of the Chandrayaan-3 mission near the south pole of the Earth's satellite. In particular, it is designed to study the seismic activity of the Moon and determine the thermal properties of lunar regolith.
