ARMA comments on why Medvedchuk's yacht was leaving the dock in Croatia

The media reported that the arrested yacht of Viktor Medvedchuk, a member of the banned OPZZh party and Putin's godfather, Royal Romance, was leaving its permanent location at a Croatian marina.

In this regard, the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) stated that it is in constant communication with the Croatian authorities – the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure; the Ministry of Justice and the Port of Trogir, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Ukraine in Croatia and the Embassy of Croatia in Ukraine.

According to the documents obtained by ARMA, the superyacht has been at the point of deployment at the Adria Docks shipyard in Trohir.

"According to the Ministry of Maritime, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, the yacht Royal Romance temporarily set sail on January 25, 2024 to confirm its technical capability, buoyancy and engine operation. These measures were carried out by the decision of the District Court of Split (Croatia)," the agency explained.

To ensure the legality of the technical inspection, the Harbor Master with the participation of Croatian police officers monitored the vessels, the statement said.

According to the specialized website Marintraffic.com, the yacht's departure was confirmed at 10:35 a.m. and arrival at 12:47 a.m.

In addition, the Croatian authorities announced that the District Court of Split had decided to hand over the Royal Romance to Ukraine on the basis of a request for international legal assistance. Croatia expects the vessel to be transferred to Ukraine as soon as possible. According to the Croatian side, there are no legal obstacles to the realization of this intention.

ARMA has received approval to re-inspect the yacht to ensure a quality sale.

After the assessment of the seized yacht, ARMA plans to sell it. The sale of this lot will be the first example of the sale of seized assets located abroad, the statement said.
