Tankers insured in the UK carry more than a third of all Russian oil

Despite the imposition of sanctions by Western countries on Russian oil, most ships transporting Russian oil are insured in the EU and G7 countries.

In the 12 months since the oil price ceiling was set at $60 per barrel, tankers insured in the UK have transported Russian oil worth 46.4 billion euros.
According to CREA, from the moment sanctions were imposed until November 2023, 33% of all Russian oil (by volume) was transported on tankers insured in the UK.
It also became known that in December 2023, 64% of Russian crude oil was transported by "shadow" tankers.
Russia's revenues from maritime oil exports in December decreased by 14% (€56 million per day).
