DIU: Russian pilot shot dead in Engels
He was involved in strikes on civilian objects in Ukraine and killing civilians

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that an attempt was made on the life of Oleh Stegachov, the crew commander of a Tu-95 strategic bomber, in the Russian city of Engels.
According to intelligence, Oleh Stegachov sustained gunshot wounds, but no information has been provided on their severity or his condition. The GUR also does not indicate who could have been involved in the attempt.
On Saturday, the Saratov 24 TV channel reported that on 2 February, in the city of Engels, on Petrovskaya Street, "pops similar to gunshots were heard".
According to local residents, a wounded person was allegedly seen in the area where the shooting was heard, the media outlet writes. However, the police did not confirm the information about the wounded citizen, Saratov 24 reported.
"The police arrived at the scene, but no one was found. No injured citizens were found at the scene either. An investigation is underway," the TV channel quoted the regional police as saying.
The Vazhnye Istori publication writes that, according to the databases leaked online, Stegachev was registered in Engels on Petrovskaya Street.
In Ukraine, Oleg Stegachev is believed to be involved in the launch of missile attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. His name was added to the Ukrainian database 'Myrotvorets', created in 2014 to record crimes against Ukraine's national security.
