For the first time in more than 50 years, Americans landed their own vehicle on the moon

The unmanned lander of the IM-1 mission, Odysseus, developed by the American company Intuitive Machines, touched down on the lunar surface at 18:23 ET (01:23 Kyiv time).

Source. This was reported by the American space agency NASA.

Odyssey was launched from Earth on 15 February 2024. It was launched with the help of Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Cosmodrome in Florida.

It is noted that Odyssey is the first American-made spacecraft to land on the Moon since 1972, when the Apollo 17 mission with astronauts visited the moon.

Background. As reported, NASA has postponed the landing of astronauts on the Moon until autumn 2026. The delay is due to safety concerns and problems with life support systems.
