Denmark to buy Caesar howitzers for Ukraine along with other countries

Denmark has announced that it is preparing to provide Ukraine with the 16th military aid package worth more than EUR 216.2 million.

The tranche will be based on self-propelled artillery systems and ammunition. We are talking about Caesar howitzers, self-propelled 120 mm mortars and ammunition.

This is part of what Denmark is co-financing with this package of donations to Ukraine along with France, Estonia and the Czech Republic.

"Artillery and mortar systems are very much needed in Ukraine. With this aid package, we are making a significant contribution to Ukraine's fight for freedom in the form of additional CAESAR artillery systems and related ammunition. These weapons have been provided in cooperation with our allies to send an important message that we stand behind Ukraine on a broad front," said Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

The €216.2 million will be partially used to purchase the aforementioned Caesars and other equipment.

The Caesar is equipped with a 155-mm cannon on an all-terrain chassis that can hit the enemy at a distance of 40 km.

This is not the first time Denmark has cooperated with other countries to purchase various types of weapons and equipment for Ukraine. For example, 3 months ago, the Danish and Swedish defence ministries signed a Declaration on supporting Ukraine and its army in the field of combat vehicles and transferring 20 additional CV 90 armoured vehicles to Kyiv. Denmark is investing approximately €240 million in this project.
