Poles buy apartments in Spain to have a place to flee to in case of war - media
Recently, the number of clients from Poland has tripled

Polish citizens have begun to buy housing in Spain, and the number of clients has tripled, reports Wyborcza newspaper.
According to Alfredo Izquierdo, head of the CasaViva real estate agency, his employees have a lot of work. The number of clients from Poland has tripled, with some potential buyers looking for homes in Spain because of the war in Ukraine, and others looking for a house because of high housing prices in Warsaw.
He notes that clients are divided into three groups: wealthy citizens, pensioners who have raised children and saved money, and young people who started contacting the agency after the war in Ukraine. According to him, the latter category has the most modest budget – up to 150,000 euros.
The agent cites the example of the current offer on the Spanish property market: the price per square metre is approximately 2.4 thousand euros (approximately PLN 10.3 thousand), while a square metre in Warsaw costs about PLN 17.2 thousand.
"The growth over the past two years is obvious, but at the beginning of this year, the increase is probably due to the news from Ukraine. There is more and more information that the war may come to us. Half of our clients admit in conversations with us that they are thinking about two things: how to invest safely and where to flee to in case of war," said Sebastian Pawlak, a representative of a Polish real estate agency selling homes in Spain.
Since the end of last year, NATO countries have been preparing for an inevitable war with Russia. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Moscow could attack the North Atlantic Alliance as early as 2026.
Background. As reported, European NATO countries are ready to spend almost $500 billion on defence – four times more than Russia. But Poland is demanding an increase in this amount in light of Russian aggression.
