The ceremony in its current format, with a river parade on the Seine, poses too many risks

France's General Directorate of Internal Security has expressed concern about the possibility of terrorist attacks on the day of the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Source. This was reported by Radio Europe 1.
Against the backdrop of the recent terrorist attack in Moscow, the terrorist threat in France is very high. According to the radio, the security service "wants to avoid a scenario of a coordinated attack on the day of the Olympic opening ceremony in front of cameras from around the world".
According to an unnamed source in the intelligence service, France should move "to plan B" – cancellation of the ceremony.
The ceremony in its current format, which includes a river parade on the Seine, "poses too many risks to be left as is".
The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from 26 July to 11 August.
Earlier, after the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, French President Emmanuel Macron called on the Defence and National Security Council to raise the terrorist threat level to the highest.
The government intends to deploy up to 20,000 military personnel to ensure security at the Olympic Games.
The terrorist attack in Crocus took place on the evening of 22 March. Armed men who broke into the concert complex opened fire on visitors and staff and then set the building on fire. The suspected terrorists were detained the next day.
According to the latest reports, the death toll has risen to 140 people. On 26 March, a court arrested 8 people in connection with the terrorist attack.
Background. Macron said that, according to intelligence, ISIS' Wilayat Khorasan wing was preparing terrorist attacks in France.
