Czech Republic accuses Russia of preparing sabotage on European railways

Russia is attempting to destabilise critical infrastructure in Europe. This was announced by Czech Transport Minister Martin Kupka in an interview with the Financial Times.
According to him, over the past two years, Russia has been making "thousands of attempts" to disrupt railway traffic in the Czech Republic. To do this, it has used hacker attacks on the signalling systems and railway network of the national operator České dráhy to disrupt ticketing systems.
Kupka noted that despite all the difficulties of this situation, the Czech government manages to protect all systems from attacks.
The increase in the number of cyber attacks on digital infrastructure was confirmed by České dráhy.
In addition, last year's report by the Czech cybersecurity agency NUKIB referred to "a growing number of malicious attacks in the energy and transport sectors".
According to the report of the EU Cybersecurity Agency, in addition to the Czech Republic, hackers attacked railway systems in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, and transport organisations in Italy. In addition, the number of hacker attacks on European airports has increased.
