Solar power plants will be installed on the roofs of 270 medical institutions in Ukraine by the end of 2024
This will allow covering 20 to 70% of the healthcare facility's electricity needs

By the end of 2024, solar power plants (SPPs) will be installed at 270 Ukrainian medical institutions.
Source. This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities in a telegram channel on Thursday.
"In total, such SPPs will be installed in 190 settlements, hospitals and outpatient clinics, which are visited by 2 million Ukrainians annually. About a quarter of these medical facilities will be equipped with energy storage facilities along with SPPs," the statement said.
The capacity of SPPs ranges from 7 to 100 kW, which makes it possible to cover 20 to 70% of the electricity needs of a medical institution and save budget funds for the institution and the community. About 5% of such generated electricity can be sold to the grid, the committee explained.
The cost savings for these medical institutions will amount to UAH 55 million per year, and about UAH 1.5 billion over 30 years.
According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Ukrainian healthcare facilities are currently equipped with more than 11,000 generators for uninterrupted power supply.
In addition, more than 60 healthcare facilities have solar stations with panels, many of them with energy storage batteries. By the end of 2024, it is planned to equip another 200 healthcare facilities with solar power plants.
Background. As reported, a hospital in Khmelnytskyi became the first in Ukraine to start selling green energy. When electricity production exceeds the clinic's consumption, it sells excess electricity to the grid.
