Several hundred environmental activists tried to break into the Tesla factory in Grünheide, Germany, near Berlin on Friday, 10 May. Law enforcement officers managed to prevent this attempt.

Source. DW writes about this with reference to the Metropolitan Police.

The video, which was filmed near the factory, shows a large group of people running towards its building. Some of them cover their faces with masks. Police officers are also seen wearing protective helmets and carrying batons.

A police spokesperson told Tagesspiegel that detentions were made during the action and a criminal investigation is underway.

On Wednesday, 8 May, Berlin environmental activists called for protests against the expansion of Tesla's factory in Grünheide. On Friday, 10 May, they held a rally in Berlin with the relevant demands. It took place in front of the Mall of Berlin, where the American automaker's showroom is located.

The protesters unfurled a poster with the slogan "Clean cars are a dirty lie".

In early March of this year, unknown persons set fire to a power line pylon, which led to a power outage in several settlements near Berlin. Among other things, the Tesla factory was cut off. The automaker was forced to halt production and evacuate its employees.

Background. As a reminder, the US and German authorities have accused Tesla of non-compliance with environmental regulations. In particular, the US regulator EPA said that the automaker had not confirmed compliance with federal standards for emissions of hazardous air pollutants.
