US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who arrived in Kyiv, had a working lunch with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at the Pizza Veterano pizzeria in Kyiv, opened by a Ukrainian military veteran.

Source. This was reported by the BBC.

The restaurant was founded by former Armed Forces of Ukraine soldier Leonid Ostaltsev, who served in Donbas in 2014 as part of the 30th Separate Mechanised Brigade.

Ostaltsev invited Ukrainian army veterans to work in the pizzeria. They regularly deliver free pizza to hospitals for soldiers undergoing treatment.

"As a pizza person, like most Americans, I can tell you that it's great here. I really, really recommend it," commented Anthony Blinken on the choice of the restaurant.

Blinken and Kuleba ordered a meat pizza, which the restaurant calls "Ukrainian", as well as a vegetarian pizza.

As reported, on 14 May, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Kyiv.

This is the first visit of a senior US official to Ukraine since the long-awaited $61bn aid package for Ukraine was passed by Congress.

According to an anonymous US official quoted by Reuters, Blinken wants to "send a strong message of reassurance to Ukrainians who are obviously in a very difficult situation".
