"Ukrenergo announced power cuts for consumers on 15 and 16 May
The reason was the cold snap and the increase in electricity consumption in this regard

On the evening of 15 May, from 19:25 to 22:00, Ukrenergo introduced controlled emergency power outages for industrial and residential consumers in all regions of Ukraine.
The reason for the restrictions is an increase in electricity consumption during the cold snap. The capacity of Ukrainian power plants is insufficient due to the consequences of five missile and drone attacks carried out by Russia on the Ukrainian power system since 22 March, the company said.
On Thursday, 16 May, from 00:00 and throughout the day, scheduled restrictions – hourly outage schedules (HOS) – will be introduced for residential and industrial consumers throughout Ukraine.
The company hopes this will help make controlled outages more predictable for consumers and the operation of the power system safer.
Ukrenergo's dispatch centre has already communicated consumption limits for each region to the regional power distribution companies.
Information on how the consumption limits will be applied in each region will be available in the consumer's account, on the official websites of the regional power companies, as well as on their social media pages.
According to Ukrenergo, the scope of restrictions is distributed evenly across all regions. At the same time, power supply to critical infrastructure facilities is not restricted.
