Childhood and Education

Born on June 9, 1981, in the town of Liubeshiv in Volyn, into a family of teachers. His childhood unfolded in an atmosphere typical of the era: schooling in a local institution, working the family homestead, and a prospect of remaining in his hometown forever. Yet it was precisely then that a strong drive emerged to go beyond the local environment and forge his own path.

While still in school, he identified his future direction — law and management. He participated in humanities olympiads and took a keen interest in politics and public affairs. After graduating, he enrolled in the Law Faculty of Volyn State University, combining his studies with early entrepreneurial ventures.

Corporate Career

In the early 2000s, he gained his first hands-on experience in retail trade and small commercial ventures, developing an understanding of risk, responsibility, and market fundamentals within a transitional economy. A pivotal turning point came through working at the Kontinium Group, where he gained exposure to large-scale, structured business. Starting from a basic legal position, he quickly immersed himself in corporate processes, asset management, and executive decision-making. This period shaped his practical understanding of how major corporate structures operate, how decisions are made, and how business systems are built.

He later joined a team that managed assets including UkrLandfarming and Avangard, gaining experience in large-scale projects across the agricultural, energy, and financial sectors. During this time, his role gradually expanded beyond legal affairs into management, business development, and new venture launches.

Own Business

After several years with major corporate structures, he returned to Lutsk and began developing his own projects. The first step was a retail store network, which he successfully built, scaled, and eventually sold.

The next major venture was a timber processing business. Together with partners, he participated in developing production and export processes in the industry, launching new capacities, and creating jobs. The project scaled rapidly, but over time became entangled in prolonged management and legal disputes. This eventually led to unwarranted pressure from law enforcement and criminal prosecution. Although the case was ultimately closed due to the absence of criminal elements, this difficult chapter forced the entrepreneur to fundamentally rethink his approach to business, partner selection, and risk management.

Trademark Group and Industrial Chemistry

Oleg Chykyda subsequently focused on industrial chemistry and disinfectant production. Trademark Group, in which he became a co-owner, served large corporate and government clients, expanded its sales geography, and entered export markets. This segment experienced particularly strong growth during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Civic and Political Activity

A distinct chapter in the businessman's life was his engagement in civic and political activity at the local level. In 2010, he was elected as a deputy to the Volyn Regional Council. Following the events of 2013–2014, he stepped back from active political involvement and refocused on business. His final attempt to re-enter local politics involved running for the regional council and a brief membership in one of the parties. Ultimately, however, the ambition to build his own enterprise prevailed, and this chapter was definitively closed.

ZPEK: Fuel Import and Supply

A new and ambitious chapter began after 2022. Against the backdrop of full-scale war and a transforming fuel market, Oleg Chykyda and his partners developed a fuel import business, resulting in the establishment of the ZPEK Group of Companies (Western Fuel and Energy Company).

The Group actively develops international fuel supply routes from European Union countries, as well as its own infrastructure for storage, transshipment, and transportation logistics, along with a retail network in the petroleum products market.

In 2025, ZPEK ranked among the top 10 diesel fuel importers in Ukraine and the top 5 suppliers by rail transport. Poland, Lithuania, and Romania became the primary import routes.

Other Business Interests

Beyond the fuel market, Oleg Chykyda develops projects in electricity generation, residential and commercial real estate construction in Ukraine and abroad, HoReCa, and invests in agricultural production.

Today, the professional journey of entrepreneur and philanthropist Oleg Chykyda represents a combination of large-scale corporate governance experience, personal entrepreneurship, crisis management, and building businesses under complex and unstable conditions. He considers responsibility for decisions, a systematic approach, and the ability to adapt to change as the core principles of his work.
