MOD: Outcome of battle in Donbas to determine if occupiers try to retake Kyiv
Russian troops still amass at the Ukrainian border

What happened. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (MOD) believes that the possibility of a second offensive by the Russian invaders on Kyiv will depend on the battle's result in Donbas.
Source. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine representative, Oleksandr Motuzianyk, has reported the matter at a briefing in the 'Ukraine' media center.
Details. "The issue of a possible resumption of the enemy's attack on the capital will rely on the hostilities conducted in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Motuzianyk said.
Motuzianyk points out that separate units of the enemy are stationed on the territory of the Gomel region of Belarus and the Bryansk and Kursk regions of Russia. According to him, the odds say their task is to provide a visible presence as a distraction for Ukrainian defense forces.
The representative of the Ministry of Defense also added that Russia had almost completed preparations for an offensive operation in eastern Ukraine.
Background. In Mariupol port, Russian invaders have hijacked a cargo carrier with its crew.
