Russian invaders threaten to use chemical weapons in Mariupol
Ukrainian military are still in town

What happened. Russian occupiers intimidate Ukrainian army men in Mariupol with chemical warfare.
Source. Statement from Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova.
Details. According to her, representatives of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) occupation government are openly posing threats to utilize chemical weapons against the Ukrainian military, maintaining defense on the Azovstal in Mariupol.
Denisova points out that one particular statement is circulating in the Russian news media. Eduard Basurin (one of the ringleaders of the so-called People's Police of the DNR) assures that it is pointless to take underground fortifications of Mariupol's Azovstal by assault. Covering every exit and using chemical weapons would be a sensible undertaking.
