Source. This was stated in the relevant decree of the president of the russian federation.
Details. The decree states that the 64th Motor Rifle Brigade was awarded with the honorary title of “Guards” for “mass heroism and valor, tenacity, and courage shown by the brigade personnel in combat operations to defend the motherland and state interests in the armed conflict.”
It should be noted that the brigade is a subunit of the 35th All-Military Army of the Eastern Military District and is being dislocated in the khabarovsk krai.
Background. It will be recalled that servicemen of the 64th Motor Rifle Brigade committed mass killings and tortures of civilians in Bucha. After its temporary bringing to the territory of belarus, the brigade was again returned to Ukraine.
