Details. Indonesia is the host country for this year's G20 summit. The United States and some other members of the G7 have asked Jakarta, which earlier wanted to “remain impartial” as the head of the G20, to send an invitation to President Zelensky to attend at least a part of the meeting.
Previously. Some countries wanted russia not to be invited to the meeting, but Indonesia did not approve this offer. Biden said last month that if Indonesia does not exclude russia from the G20 summit, it should at least invite Ukraine to some meetings.
The United States fully supports russia's exclusion from the G20, although some countries, including China, oppose the move. russia was excluded from the G8 after putin's annexation of Crimea in 2014.
