Kharkiv combined heat and power (CHP) plant is shutting down and preserving equipment due to rising gas prices
Preparation and start of the heating season in the city is at risk

What happened? PJSC Kharkiv CHP-5 has to shut down and preserve equipment starting from June 1 due to new gas prices set by Naftogaz Trading.

Details. “CHP-5 cannot work under the current pricing policy of Naftogaz Trading,” said Oleksandr Minkovych, Chairman of the Board of PJSC Kharkiv CHP-5.
Starting from June 1, the gas supply company Naftogaz Trading sets new prices for fixed gas volumes for the enterprises of the fuel and energy complex, significantly increasing them from UAH 7,900 to UAH 29,400 per 1,000 cubic meters of fuel.
“This causes a very difficult situation for the entire domestic generation and, in particular, makes it impossible for Kharkiv CHP-5 to operate during the interheating and heating periods,” the press service of Kharkiv CHP-5 emphasizes.
Oleksandr Minkovych once again called on officials to take measures to prevent wrecking of preparations and the start of the new heating season.
“CHP-5 has repeatedly informed the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo that the preparation and start of the heating season is at risk. We have not received any answers,” Minkovych said.
According to him, equipment which may not be used for 30 days should be preserved. Downtime in the work will result in the loss of working capital, including that provided for the next stage of the repair campaign, and breach of contracts with construction and repair organizations.
“Unprepared equipment cannot be put into operation after the end of the interheating period. So, the start and passing of the heating season is also in question. The domestic generation, as never before, needs the support of the state, clear, understandable, loyal mechanisms of work. But instead, it has to suffer from obstacles and constant price jumps on the part of the gas supply organization,” the press service of Kharkiv CHP-5 notes.
