What happened? In January-May 2022, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises reduced their total production by 52.7% compared to the same period in 2021.

Details. According to Ukrmetalurgprom, for five months of 2022:

  • pig iron smelting amounted to 4.15 million tons (46.7% compared to January – May 2021);
  • steel smelting – 4.24 million tons (47.2%);
  • rolled products – 3.79 million tons (47.3%).

In the ranking of the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), Ukraine ranked 36th place out of 64 countries – the world's major producers of these products.
