The United States welcomes capacity-building initiatives

What happened? The United States supports the unification of Britain, Poland, Ukraine, and the Baltic states into a separate alliance to strengthen defense capabilities.
Source. This is announced by US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith, Ukrinform reports.
Details. According to her, in recent years there have been initiatives to form such “mini-format” alliances, particularly in the field of defense.
“So if NATO members are divided into partnership formats or into certain groups to help build capacity and strengthen the Alliance through collective efforts, the United States would like to support this,” she stated.
She also noted that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, where she represents the United States, is also interested in strengthening its eastern flank.
Previously. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson proposed to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to create an economic and military alliance against russia, which would become an alternative to the European Union. It was expected that the new alliance might bring together countries dissatisfied with the EU's position and Germany's response to russia's military aggression.
