Annual inflation in Ukraine exceeds 20% for the first time in six years
Prices have increased by 3.1% compared to May

It is informed that the annual inflation in Ukraine was 21.5% as of June. In comparison with May, inflation on the consumer market was 3.1%, since the beginning of the year – 17.4%.

Details. According to Bloomberg, the 21.5% increase in consumer prices is the highest level in the last six years.
Core inflation as of June was 11.4% compared to the beginning of the year and 1.6% compared to May.
The prices of eggs rose the most among all products on the consumer market. In June, their price increased by 17.2%. In general, food products rose in price by 3.2% over the month, although there were some products that fell in price. For example, the prices of beef and fruit fell by 1.1% compared to May.
Shoes and clothes also fell in price by 1.4% in June. In annual terms, they also became cheaper – in June 2021, they cost 4.3% more than now.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose in price by 2.4% compared to May this year and by 19.3% compared to June last year.
Prices for housing maintenance and repair, water, electricity, gas and fuel also increased – in June one had to pay 0.6% more for them compared to May of this year and 3.8% more than a year ago.
The rise in price was not spared household items, household appliances, and current housing maintenance. Their value has increased by 2.5% since May this year and by 14.1% since June 2021.
Prices in the health care sector increased by 0,5% in June and by 13.2% over the year. This is due to a 3% increase in the prices of postal services and telephone equipment.
The cost of communication increased by 0.9% compared to May this year and by 10% compared to June 2021.
The education price increased slightly in June – by 0.1%, but over the year its cost increased by 15.9%.
The sphere of restaurants and hotels now costs 1.3% more than in May of this year and 15.9% more than last year.
The record holder in price increase became the transport sector – prices rose by 11.2% in a month, and by 42.4% in a year. This is due to the increase in the price of fuel and lubricants by 21.3%. Consequently the price of road transport rose by 7.4% and of rail passenger transport – by 4.5%.
Other goods and services increased in price by 1.7% in a month and 13.9% in a year.
