Details. During January-September 2021, the state sold goods and services worth $57.6 billion, and this year the figure fell to $42.5 billion. Instead, in September, compared to the previous month, there was an increase in exports – the volume of exported goods increased by 24%.
The leap in exports was mostly thanks to the metallurgical and food industries. Both fields showed an increase in sales abroad by 13% and 36%, respectively.
“Higher prices somewhat compensate for lower export volumes this year. However, it should be understood that logistics takes a significant part of the price and directly farmers get paid pennies. This especially refers to the period before the grain agreement,” explains Pavlo Martyshev, KSE researcher.
The analyst adds that if the grain deal is extended, exports will become comparable to the last three months of 2021.
