"The problem is so serious that Ukrenergo has significantly limited the volume of consumption throughout Ukraine and in Kyiv in particular. Colleagues keep the situation under control and are looking for solutions to stabilise it," Mr. Kovalenko wrote on Facebook.
Distribution system operators must adhere to these restrictions in order not to worsen the state of the power system. Therefore, they can apply emergency shutdowns. Critical infrastructure, however, must be powered.
According to the CEO of Yasno, the destruction is significant. Power engineers are working on restoration, but Ukrainians should be prepared for the fact that outages may be long-lasting.
