What happened? In Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten.

Source. Iryna Prianishnikova, the spokeswoman of the Kyiv Oblast police, in a comment to Suspilne.

Details. She noted that a fire broke out at the crash site, people are being evacuated.

Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko notes that the helicopter fell directly on a social infrastructure facility. Information on the casualties is being clarified.

The Head of Kyiv Obast Military Administration Oleksiy Kuleba claims that the helicopter fell between a kindergarten and a residential building. He adds that at the time of the crash there were children and staff in the kindergarten. In addition, there were victims as a result of the incident.

The National Police have confirmed that the helicopter that crashed belonged to the SES. As a result of the crash, the Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrsky, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevhen Yenin, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lubkovych were killed.

They also emphasised that the helicopter had been flying at low altitude over the city for a long time.

The SES spokesman said that the children had been evacuated to another educational institution. So far, no reports of missing persons have been filed.


According to the updated data, 16 people died as a result of the tragedy, including 3 children. 30 people were hospitalised, including 12 children. Search operations continue, however.

The SES added that experts were dismantling the floor slabs between the 1st and 2nd floors and the roof.
