What happened? Since November last year, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities has reviewed more than 2,500 consumer complaints and appeals regarding unfair power cuts.

Thus, on January 17, 2023, during a meeting, the Commission considered the issues following the results of the first wave of unscheduled on-site inspections of oblast power distribution companies. "It was decided to impose penalties on Vinnytsiaoblenergo JSC, Chernivtsioblenergo JSC, and Volynoblenergo PJSC, and to oblige them to continue to adhere to fair outage schedules, as well as the requirements for proper informing consumers about power outages," the statement said. In addition, for the first time in the regulator's practice, the heads of the mentioned companies were fined.
The National Commission reports that the results of inspections of the next seven distribution system operators will be announced at a regular meeting scheduled for January 24, 2023. At the same time, decisions will be made on the imposition of penalties on the companies and their heads.
