UPDATED at 08:03 a.m.
The Ministry of Defence clarifies that the enemy fired 32 air- and sea-launched cruise missiles at Ukraine, 16 of which were shot down.
"12 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were launched from two Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea, 8 Kalibr cruise missiles from a frigate in the Black Sea, 12 Kh-22 cruise missiles from six Tu-22M3 long-range bombers from Kursk Oblast, and two Kh-59 guided missiles from two Su-35 tactical aircraft from the area of occupied Melitopol," the statement says.
It is noted that the troops and equipment of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 14 Kh-101/Kh-555, Kalibr cruise missiles and two Kh-59 guided missiles.
"Unfortunately, some of the Kh-22 cruise missiles reached their targets, hitting critical infrastructure facilities. Currently, there are no air defence systems in service of Ukraine capable of destroying this type of missile," the Defence Ministry explains.
Earlier, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, reported on the new russian attack.
"Another russian missile attack. They launched UAVs and missiles at night. Unfortunately, there were hits in the North and West of Ukraine, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad oblasts. The russians have changed their tactics somewhat. They are conducting active reconnaissance and using fake targets," he said.
Mr. Yermak assured that Ukrainian air defence had "coped with the majority of enemy missiles and UAVs."
Last night, an air alert lasted for several hours all over the country. Heads of military administrations in the oblasts reported shooting down air targets. In particular, they reported air defence operations and explosions in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Lviv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Poltava oblasts.
In the morning report, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that there was a high probability of new air and missile attacks on the country.
Previously. The DIU reported that russian losses were the highest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
