Details. During a conversation with journalists of the publication, the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak admitted that "although the russians are not very disciplined, the sheer number of people is a problem."
"To counter this, Ukraine has opened a new voluntary mobilisation scheme with 'good results'. A lot of people are ready to go and fight. We also have volunteers from other countries," a Bankova source said.
Background. To recap: since the beginning of February, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has begun forming assault brigades called the Offensive Guard, which can be joined by volunteers to strengthen the Defence Forces and liberate the occupied territories of Ukraine. The basis of these units will consist of current police officers, border guards, and national guardsmen.
The Offensive Guard brigades have already received 27,000 applications. The Guard's time "will come when the Armed Forces successfully complete a strategic defence operation, russian troops lose their offensive potential, and the Ukrainian army launches a counteroffensive."
At the same time, Ukraine is creating the first Polish special forces unit to fight the invaders – it will be called the Polish Volunteer Legion. It will cooperate with a similar unit consisting of russians fighting on the side of Ukraine. In addition, a German special unit is also being formed.
