Zelensky responds to petition calling for return of mandatory declaration submission

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to the petition No. 22/177712-ep "Resume the submission of declarations of assets of officials and deputies". As of 7:00 p.m. on February 22, the document was supported by 27925 citizens with the required 25 thousand votes.

The response was published on the President's official website.

President Zelensky noted that according to the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption", civil servants and officials are required to submit a declaration within ninety calendar days from the date of termination or lifting of martial law.

At the same time, the guarantor says that on September 23 last year, draft law No. 8071 was registered in the parliament. The author of the document, the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary group, Davyd Arakhamia, proposed to return the mandatory submission of declarations by representatives of state or local authorities. According to Mr. Zelensky, the draft law has already been included in the agenda of the ninth session of the Verkhovna Rada.

As a reminder, in early March 2022, the Parliament made it optional for officials to submit property declarations and have them verified by the NAPC. As of today, 28 MPs, one minister, two employees of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and one employee of the Office of the Prosecutor General have submitted their income declarations for 2021. The head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Oleksandr Novikov, said this during the national TV marathon.

Previously. The Parliament registered draft law No. 9041, which seeks to resume competitions and submission of declarations for candidates for public office, except for state and local governments located in the temporarily occupied territories or territories where hostilities are ongoing.
