Putin can now be arrested in 122 countries that have ratified the Rome Statute

As soon as the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, commentators began combing through the list of his planned visits to countries where the warrant could, at least in theory, be executed.

Although Putin has severely curtailed his foreign travels since the invasion of Ukraine (his first trips were to the former Soviet republics of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan last June), he is reportedly scheduled to attend the BRICS summit in Durban, South Africa, in August.
South Africa is one of 118 countries that have ratified the Rome Statute of the ICC and is therefore legally obliged to enforce the arrest warrant.
Whether Putin will now attend the summit, given the diplomatic difficulties this would create for the PA, a longtime ally of Moscow, is seriously questionable.
Even if Putin were to go to the BRICS summit for talks with the leaders of Brazil, India, China and South Africa, the prospect of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa ordering his troops to take Putin out in handcuffs is highly unlikely, the newspaper writes.
Meanwhile, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, emphasized that Putin and Russian Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova could be arrested in countries that have ratified the Rome Statute.
