Naftogaz has registered on the EU's platform for joint gas purchases
Such participation provides additional "insurance" for Ukraine for the next heating season and allows it to store gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities

Naftogaz CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov suggests that European gas market participants use the capacity of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) to store natural gas purchased under the Aggregate EU platform.
The UGS operator, Ukrtransgas, has successfully passed certification and confirmed its right to carry out gas storage activities in accordance with the updated rules in the European Union and the Energy Community.
"Naftogaz is able to make Ukraine a 'power bank' of the united Europe and looks forward to fruitful cooperation," Chernyshov adds.
The EU is creating a gas pool to avoid a repeat of last year's price hikes.
Representatives of the EU Energy Platform's governing board pointed out that Naftogaz's participation provided additional "insurance" for Ukraine for the next heating season and opened up the possibility for platform members to store gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities.
Traders operating within the platform will also be able to pump gas into Ukrainian underground storage facilities and store it until new participants arrive.
