In 2022, Ukroboronprom supplied eight times more weapons to the Armed Forces than a year earlier

The newspaper writes that Kyiv's ability to produce its own weapons now plays a key role on the battlefield. However, this cannot solve the problem of Ukraine's dependence on more sophisticated Western equipment (for example, Himars MLRS and NLAW anti-tank guns), which the Ukrainian defense industry is not yet able to produce.

Yuriy Gusev, executive director of Ukroboronprom, said that the state-owned company's facilities have been targeted by Russian missile strikes: according to him, more than 150 Russian missiles have been fired at the plants, and some facilities have been destroyed.

Despite this, Ukroboronprom has supplied the Ukrainian military with more than eight times as many weapons over the past year as the year before.

To protect its production from Russian attacks and increase the output of shells, Ukroboronprom and other defense companies have distributed production across Ukraine and set up workshops in neighboring countries, including Poland and another country that Husyev did not name.

Ukroboronprom also said that it is in the process of establishing production of 155 mm caliber shells, a NATO standard.
