The Kremlin has prepared new guidelines for the media on how to cover the Ukrainian counteroffensive

The Kremlin has issued new instructions to propagandists ahead of Ukraine's counteroffensive. According to the guidelines, state media should not reassure Russians by talking about the alleged unpreparedness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

On the contrary, propagandists are required "not to underestimate expectations" regarding the announced counteroffensive, as well as to emphasize that NATO countries supply Ukraine with weapons and support it in every way.
According to the sources, the Kremlin expects that this approach will make it easier for the population to accept Russia's possible defeat. If Ukraine recovers some territory, Russians will be told that this happened due to the "enormous efforts of the West" that it "concentrated on the frontline."
At the same time, the Kremlin is confident that the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be "modest." In this regard, propagandists are obliged to emphasize the difference between the money spent and the final result, noting that the Russian army has generally "done well."
If the counteroffensive fails, the Russians will be told that "the army skillfully repelled a powerful attack," and the price of this victory will increase dramatically, the sources add.
The scenario of Russia's total defeat, when it loses everything or a lot, is not considered in the manual.
Ukraine is "on the home stretch" before launching a counteroffensive, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said the day before. According to him, the last preparations are being finalized, after which the General Staff, the chief and his team will understand "how, where and when" they will attack.
According to Reznikov, the main things needed for the upcoming counteroffensive are weapons, trained military and constant replenishment of weapons, fuel and ammunition. In total, at least 100,000 troops will take part in the operation, he said.
