Military leadership headed by Zaluzhnyi appeals to MPs on the issue of remuneration of Ukrainian soldiers

The MPs received a letter from the power bloc with their vision of military pay. The military believes that the recently voted amendment does not resolve issues related to the remuneration of conscripts and cadets. Also, its text does not take into account the peculiarities of service in different regions and the complexity of combat missions.

Source. This was announced by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia.

The letter was signed by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Serhiy Shaptala, Head of the State Border Guard Service Serhiy Deineko, National Guard Commander Yuriy Lebed, and Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk.

"Populism in this matter can have extremely negative consequences and cause disappointment," the document says.

The letter also emphasized that remuneration should be provided by state funding, "and not just exist on paper."

The authors of the letter suggested that in the future the basis for remuneration should be developed in a more differentiated manner and with the involvement of the military and representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

Arakhamia noted that the ruling party's MPs support the authors of the appeal: therefore, they will postpone consideration of the resolution and create a working group:

"We believe that military issues cannot be resolved without the participation of the military themselves. Therefore, we will propose to postpone consideration of Resolution No. 8312-P and immediately create a working group of representatives of the Verkhovna Rada, the government and the security forces to develop a final decision on the sensitive issue of remuneration for our defenders," Arakhamia wrote.

The draft law should be ready by the end of May.

Background. As a reminder, the State Bureau of Investigation has uncovered abuses of combat allowances for the military in Rivne region.
