Ukraine and Poland modernize a powerful power transmission line for electricity exports
By selling electricity, Ukraine will accumulate funds to restore the energy sector for the new heating season

The state-owned company Ukrenergo, together with its Polish partner PSE, has modernized a powerful power transmission line between Poland and Ukraine.
The length of the new line, which mostly passes through the territory of Ukraine, reaches almost 400 km. The restored interconnector with Poland has been in operation since April 27, 2023, and has successfully operated for 3 days in test mode.
"This interstate power line means additional reliability of the Ukrainian power system as part of the European power grid," the company said.
"Ukraine's movement towards the European Union is not only about ambitions but also about concrete results," said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, "By selling electricity, we will accumulate resources to restore the energy sector for the new heating season. And if necessary, we will intensify imports and receive emergency assistance from our neighbors."
"It was a complex but mutually beneficial project that we implemented in cooperation with our European colleagues," emphasized Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrenergo.
According to him, this project is important both for Ukraine and for the energy security of Europe, as this line will strengthen the links between the Ukrainian and European power systems.
The total cost of the project amounted to UAH 350 million. In addition, a number of necessary equipment was provided free of charge by our Polish partners.
Background. As a reminder, the NEURC will check Ukrenergo on the termination of electricity exports to Slovakia – on April 21, the company unilaterally stopped exports without notifying the state authorities.
